For adults who are fitted with an air conduction hearing aid, pre-fitting measures of speech-in-noise demonstrated significant correlation to hearing aid satisfaction measures. The aided and unaided QuickSIN demonstrated the greatest relevance for current hearing aid devices. Several other tests predicted hearing aid satisfaction including the aided SSI, the HINT, and the ANL; however, the authors of this review note that the existing evidence on these tools does not include hearing aid technology from the past 20 years. Additional research is required for determining the best speech-in-noise measure for hearing aid pre-fitting in adults.
