Computer and app-based aphasia interventions with at least one aspect of AI (e.g., adaptive algorithms to modify stimuli presentation based on performance, real-time AI-generated feedback) led to improvements in various language outcomes for adults with chronic, stroke-associated aphasia. However, these improvements did not generalized to gains in functional communication or quality of life.

Limitations to this review include risk of bias regarding blinding in all included studies, a limited number of included studies, small sample sizes in four out of five studies, and heterogeneity between included studies regarding treatment characteristics and outcomes measured. Additional research is indicated.
