Selective Mutism

Selective mutism is a complex childhood anxiety disorder that impacts communication. Speech-language pathologists may treat individuals with this disorder as part of an interdisciplinary team. Treatment is often conducted in collaboration with school-based teams (e.g., teachers, guidance counselors, school staff) and behavioral health professionals (e.g., school or clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers).
