An ASHA Reader Publication

Timely, insightful, and showcasing the latest research and clinical implications, the papers from the 41st Clinical Aphasiology Conference (CAC) explore a wide range of issues surrounding the study and clinical management of persons with acquired neurologic communication disorders. This issue both reflects the composition of the annual conference and embodies multiple perspectives about the three disorders of central focus at CAC; namely, aphasia, apraxia of speech (AOS), and traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Featured in these pages are issues critical to assessment and rehabilitation, such as isolating the "active ingredients" of various approaches to treatment in AOS, predicting communication function from measures of cognition in TBI, and comparing the effectiveness of various approaches to treatment in aphasia. Other articles that address key clinical questions, such as the role of repeated practice in treating AOS and the effect of intensive language therapy in treating aphasia, are shaping the future of rehabilitation for individuals with acquired neurologic communication disorders.
