In this
webinar, members of ASHA’s Health Care Economics Committee explain and discuss
recent CPT and ICD-10-CM coding updates for audiologists and the 2023 Medicare
Physician Fee Schedule, including payment changes and the Merit-Based Incentive
Payment System (MIPS). Speakers discuss frequently asked coding and billing
questions, including questions related to over-the-counter (OTC) hearing
devices, as well as review clinical examples that illustrate how to apply codes
for proper coding and billing.

Leisha R. Eiten,
AuD, CCC-A, received
her MA in audiology from the University of Iowa and her AuD from ATSU through
the Arizona School of Health Sciences. She has been employed at Boys Town
National Research Hospital since 1990 and is currently the Associate Director of
Audiology. She is a member of ASHA’s Health Care Economics Committee and is
ASHA’s audiology advisor to the American Medical Association’s Relative Value
Update Committee – Health Care Professionals Advisory Committee (RUC-HCPAC).
She is a past president of the Nebraska Speech-Language-Hearing Association and
is co-chair of NSLHA’s Insurance and Reimbursement Committee.

Stuart
Trembath, MA, CCC-A, received his BA in speech and hearing
science from Michigan State University and his MA in audiology from
Northwestern University. His past work includes a hospital setting – Cook
County Hospital in Chicago – as well as an educational setting – Northern
Trails Area Education Agency in Iowa. He is sole owner of Hearing Associates,
P.C., in Mason City, Iowa, which has grown from a two-audiologist practice in
1987 to a six-audiologist practice today. Trembath is a past president of the
Iowa Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the current co-chair of ASHA’s Health
Care Economics Committee, and ASHA’s representative to the American Medical
Association’s Current Procedural Terminology Editorial Panel.
