This session from ASHA’s 2021 Schools Connect online conference provides a foundation for understanding aspects of diversity, equity, and inclusion as they relate to service delivery in the school setting and beyond. The presenter shares case studies, strategies, and resources for best practices in providing culturally responsive services in the current social and public health context.

Presenter Information
Kimberly J. Green, EdD, CCC-SLP, is a speech-language pathologist, assistant professor, and Distance Graduate Program Director in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department at Western Kentucky University (WKU). She is a Fellow for the WKU Center for Inclusive Teaching and Learning and a Scholar of the WKU Center for Child Welfare and Research. Dr. Green holds a certificate in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and has served as the first Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) for the WKU College of Health and Human Services (CHHS). She has authored articles heavily centered on cultural competence and proficiency and has developed continuing education workshops on providing inclusive and culturally competent services. Having taught 14 courses abroad, Dr. Green’s focus on DEI also encompasses issues related to internationalization and global affairs, including refugee populations. Additionally, her service includes membership on the Kentucky Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence and a member of the International Centers of Kentucky Board of Directors. She is a founding member of the Warren County Services Fair (for immigrant and refugee families). Dr. Green has served for 13 years as a Site Based Decision Making Council member at the elementary level and is a long-standing member of the Equity Council for Warren County Public Schools.
