The theme for this SIG 14 activity is literacy interventions, word reading, and
dynamic assessment in culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) populations. Topics
include (a) scoping reviews of culturally responsive literacy interventions in speechlanguage
pathology, (b) a meta-analysis of dynamic assessment as is relates to wordreading
skills in school-age children, and (c) conceptualization of a universal dynamic
assessment screener for developmental language disorder.

Outcomes
You will be able to:
- summarize intervention strategies and apply them to relevant case studies
- assess for whom dynamic assessments of word-reading skills might be an
appropriate alternative to traditional static assessments
- analyze current screening tools for adherence to best practice recommendations
in the area of screening for developmental language disorder, multilingual
assessment, and dynamic assessment
- acquire skills to critically evaluate the strength and appropriateness of literacy
strategies for CLD populations using established frameworks
