SLPs who work with children with feeding disorders often face challenges when managing oral hypersensitivities or advancing a child’s diet due to refusal behaviors. This webinar explores the question, “What can I do when oral-sensory-motor deficits and difficult behaviors intersect?” The speaker discusses factors to consider when evaluating children with behavioral feeding disorders as well as uses video examples to illustrate and discuss various treatment strategies.

Learning Outcomes
You will be able to:

  • Describe two oral-sensory-motor development principles that are important to successful treatment outcomes
  • List three findings from an oral-sensory-motor evaluation that relate to prognosis
  • Name two features of each of the sensory profiles (hypo, hyper, & mixed)
  • Identify three behavioral techniques applicable to oral-motor feeding intervention in the pediatric population

Course Reviews

"The speaker did a superb job making the course accessible to clinical practice by including an interview from an SLP with feeding sensory disorder and therapy clips from treatment."

"The layout of the course was very organized and the content of the course was excellent. I particularly liked the video interview with the adult woman who could look back on her feeding aversions and difficulties when she was a child and make parallels for us as therapists."

"This webinar was very informative and gave me confidence on what I am already doing well but provided me with new strategies to improve my skills. I will definitely use what I learned with my kiddos and their caregivers. Thank you!"
