In this SIG 2 article series, participants explore various aspects of person-centered care of people with aphasia and other neurogenic communication disorders. The first article describes how co-constructed storytelling can facilitate identity reconstruction in people with aphasia, in alignment with the Life Participation Approach to Aphasia and the Living with Aphasia: Framework for Outcome Measurement frameworks. The second article discusses the importance of and the steps necessary to translate research articles to be aphasia friendly. The third article is a scoping review of the literature regarding episodes of lucidity in people with dementia at the end of life; the role of SLPs in supporting this vulnerable population and in conducting further research in the area is explored. The fourth article describes a case study of a person with acute onset of Wernicke’s aphasia that was misdiagnosed as delirium; implications for clinical practice are discussed.
