Neuroplasticity
An ASHA Reader Publication
Originally a special supplement in the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research, this reader on neuroplasticity explores how to put into practice the experience-dependent neuroplasticity principles identified in basic research. Particular consideration is given to the application of these principles in regard to dysphagia, dysarthria, apraxia, and aphasia rehabilitation. The articles are a series of consensus statements developed by dozens of scientists who convened at the Promoting Neuroplasticity in Speech Language Swallowing meeting in Gainesville, Florida, in 2005.
This edition of Topics in Communication Sciences and Disorders Research is part of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's launch of a new publishing series called ASHA Readers. ASHA Readers are special compilations of articles from a variety of ASHA publications, including all four journals, The ASHA Leader, and Special Interest Group Perspectives newsletter.
