While multiple factors may influence the training of future communication sciences
and disorders (CSD) professionals, universities must prepare students to work
in a diverse and evolving world. There are many ways to promote essential
concepts like cultural humility and inclusive practices within preservice and
professional practice. This course offers practical strategies for integrating
diverse perspectives, ensuring students develop and utilize the skills
necessary to serve diverse populations and foster belonging in professional
settings.

Information
Eusebia
V. Mont, MS, CCC-SLP (she/her/hers), is an Associate Clinical
Professor at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is the director of
the Cultural-Linguistic Diversity Emphasis Program and director of the Master's
Program in Speech-Language Pathology. Additionally, Eusebia teaches
Multicultural Issues in Communication Disorders and is a consultant for the
Office of Undergraduate Studies to support programmatic DEI-focused learning
outcomes. Her clinical interests include communication across the lifespan and
infusing diverse perspectives into course design. Before joining the HESP
faculty, she worked in various educational and rehabilitation settings and
private practice.
