ASHA-Created Courses for ASHA Certification Maintenance

A full explanation of the three professional development (PD) requirements for ASHA certification maintenance is available here. Under the updated standards, you determine if a professional development activity meets the requirements.

To assist you with making this determination, ASHA staff has put together lists of ASHA-created courses that count toward the requirements. If you complete an ASHA-created course that is not on the lists but you believe it fulfills a requirement, you are empowered to self-attest to meeting the requirement on your Certification Maintenance Overview page under My Account.

Courses

Use the buttons below to see lists of courses that ASHA staff has identified as counting toward the PD requirements. Courses are available as part of the ASHA Learning Pass subscription or for individual purchase in the ASHA Store. Availability varies by course.

Content Area 2

2 PDHs in topics that strengthen the ability of ASHA-certified individuals to:

  • Provide services that align with the unique histories, values, and circumstances of individuals, families, and communities, and/or
  • Enhance capacity for self-reflection, adaptability, and collaboration with colleagues, students, externs, Clinical Fellows, assistants, professionals, care partners, and others, as appropriate.

Supervision

Applies to professionals who supervise clinical practicum or professional experience.

Reporting Completed Courses

If You Use the ASHA CE Registry

When you complete an ASHA-created course that is offered for ASHA CEUs and is coded for a particular requirement, it will automatically appear on your CE Transcript.

When you complete a course that includes content that can count toward more than one requirement, it will automatically appear on your CE Transcript as counting toward one specific requirement (noted on the course description page).

Want to count it differently? You can self-attest to meeting the requirement of your choice on your Certification Maintenance Overview page under My Account.

If You Don’t Use the ASHA CE Registry

You must self-attest to meeting the requirements on your Certification Maintenance Overview page under My Account.

Multi-Requirement Courses

Some courses can count toward more than one requirement. In this case, you have two options:

1
Count the entire course duration toward either requirement, OR
2
Count a portion of the course (e.g., 30 minutes, 1 hour, etc.) toward one requirement and the remaining time toward another requirement.

Important: You can't count the same time block twice.

For Example: The ASHA-created course "Ethics and Culturally Responsive Care (PD102591)” is 2 hours and meets the definition of both Content Area 1 and Content Area 2. However, it is coded as a Content Area 1 and will be checked off for only that requirement on the CE Registry. If you want to count it as Content Area 2 instead, you need to self-attest on your Certification Maintenance Overview page under My Account.
