Description

This webinar will explore the mismatch in expectations audiology students and their supervisors often experience, both academically and clinically. The webinar will discuss ways to identify and address the expectation gap in the classroom, clinic, and between supervisor and supervisee. Additionally, the webinar will discuss how supervisors can help supervisees develop a “why” mindset.

Presenter Information

Nicholas Stanley, AuD, CCC-A, is an assistant professor of audiology at the University of South Alabama. He has served as a supervisor and mentor for undergraduate and graduate students in the University's Speech and Hearing Science, AuD, and PhD programs. His primary areas of research are auditory event-related potentials and age-related changes in speech understanding in complex listening environments.

Peyton Williams, AuD, CCC-A, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology at the University of South Alabama. She is also a practicing pediatric audiologist at the USA Speech and Hearing Center. Dr. Williams teaches graduate-level audiology practicum courses as well as supervises doctoral audiology students completing their clinical training at the USA Speech and Hearing Center. Her specialty areas include pediatric diagnostics and amplification, pediatric cochlear implants and bone conduction devices, inpatient testing, and ototoxicity monitoring. Dr. Williams obtained her Doctorate of Audiology in 2019 from the University of South Alabama and has had 6 years of experience supervising audiology students in clinical settings that have ranged from university clinics to ENT and hospital settings.
