Trauma-informed care is a patient-care model that acknowledges the prevalence of trauma and its impact in our society. By incorporating trauma-informed practices, we can increase patient engagement and efficacy of care. This webinar examines the basic tenets of trauma-informed care and suggests modifications audiologists can make to daily practices. The webinar also shares resources for patients and providers.

Presenter Information

Olivia L. Giglio, AuD, CCC-A  (she/her/hers) is a clinical audiologist at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Giglio graduated with her AuD from East Carolina University in 2023. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Delaware, where she obtained degrees in cognitive science as well as general music with a concentration in voice. During her undergraduate career she was a resident assistant and received yearly trainings in emergency and crisis response for students experiencing emotional, physical, and/or mental health concerns. Dr. Giglio has also completed training in mental health first aid through the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. Dr. Giglio has a passion for incorporating best care practices with her patients. She began her research into trauma-informed care during her clinical externship at Thomas Jefferson University.
